I am sending this Despatch in order
that you may be aware of the details of the proposal, but
it is one with which I should not be inclined to deal in
the absence of the Governor were it not that the matter is
somewhat urgent. The sterling value of the dollar may fall!
at any time, and it is, therefore, important to obtain the |
best rate possible to make the scheme a financial success. It is probable that the Governor will return to the Colony before this Despatch reaches you and he will then be able
to communicate his views by telegraph.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
Canstevem
Officer Administering the Government.
